About
the Doctor
Dr. Hooker was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and raised in West Point,
Mississippi. He received his bachelor and master of science degrees in
genetics from Mississippi State University. His doctor of medicine and doctor
of philosophy degree in medical genetics were earned at the University of
Mississippi. He was the first physician to serve as medical geneticist for
the Mississippi sickle cell anemia program.
Dr. Hooker trained at the world-famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota,
for 4 ½ years. His specialty training continued for two more years at the
prestigious Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. During his
advanced specialty training, he was a teacher of medical students.
While in training at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Hooker was contacted by the
administration and board of his hometown hospital to return to West Point,
Mississippi, to practice medicine. After several months of deliberation, Dr.
Hooker decided to leave research and academics to return to his hometown
where he now sculptures patients weekly with true tumescent
liposuction.
Memberships
Dr. Hooker serves as assistant clinical professor at the University of
Mississippi Medical School. He is director of the West Point genetics clinic,
one of three medical genetic clinics in Mississippi.
Dr. Hooker is a member of the American Medical Association, Mississippi State
Medical Association, Prairie Medical Society, American Academy of
Dermatology, American Academy of Dermatologic Surgery, American College Of
Allergy and Immunology, American Society of Otolaryngic Allergy,
International Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Human
Genetics, American Society of Internal Medicine, Mississippi Society of
Internal Medicine, American Society of Investigative Dermatology, and the
American Society of Dermatologic Allergy.
Dr. Hooker is an alumnus of Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School. |
