Leading Edge Wireless, LLC, (“Leading Edge”), is a Tennessee LLC, The Company began operations in February 1998 by providing mobile data solutions and reselling analog Specialized Mobile Radio services. Today, Leading Edge is the largest licensed 450 MHz Private Land Mobile Radio (PLMR) carrier in Tennessee and has been ranked by Motorola as one of the nations largest provider’s of Motorola’s 450 MHz Dispatch Radio Systems.  Leading Edge Wireless is also the only provider in the Mid-South of 700 MHz “True Dispatch” Trunked Radio Systems.

Leading Edge continues to strive to meet our customers needs with Wide Area Dispacth Soultions. Since deploying our original 450 MHz systems four years ago we have continued to expand them to over 50 channels at three sites covering southwest Tennessee, eastern Arkansas and north Mississippi. Additional services such as mobile data and vehicle location are available as well as our regular voice services.

  This year we have added 700 MHz “True Dispatch” Systems at two sites that is clear and noise free on all channels. These frequencies have never before been used for two-way radio of any kind. (Please check our what’s new and specials page for more information.) 

Leading Edge kicked off its first year in business with the upgrade of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department communications system, a $3.5+ million project. In 1999, Leading Edge first offered mobile data communication solutions and two-way dispatch services. Leading Edge Wireless acquired licensed spectrum from the FCC to offer two-way dispatch services on its network. In May of 2000, Leading Edge constructed its own 450 MHz dispatch network covering the greater Memphis metropolitan area and began offering subscribers private two communications on the Leading Edge Network. During 2001, Leading Edge expanded its Network throughout the Metropolitan Area, and into surrounding territories.
