March came in like a lion, and it went out like a lion also. In between, we had an eventful month. Longwood Plantation hosted the Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours on the 11th. We had a great crowd, great food , good conversation, and best of all, many of our residents joined in and got to visit with old and new friends. Business after hours is a great place to showcase the places and people that make Orangeburg great. Another big event for Longwood and Magnolia Place was our DHEC inspection. Very nerve-wracking, but we came out great. Our kitchen received a score of 100%, Can’t get any better than that. Great work Gloria and kitchen crew. The rest of the inspection was just as good. The inspector left with compliments all around, saying that it was “ a Pleasure” to inspect a facility like ours. I guess we’re all lucky to live at or work for a great facility like Longwood Plantation and Magnolia Place. Everyone who came to the Pigs-in-a-Blanket party enjoyed “the pigs”, and the chance to socialize. Hope everyone comes out to enjoy the many activities available to them. Bingo is always a popular activity. We have some great prises, but I think everyone enjoys the playing even more. Sittersize with Kathy is another popular activity. Kathy is a go-getter who keeps everyone movin’ and groovin’. Ice cream is always a crowd pleaser and we had plenty of it in March. Ice cream socials, ice cream on the porch, pie and ice cream, and of course, ice cream at our St. Patrick’s Day party. Cake and candy was also available for all residents who came to enjoy the party. We made several lunch time excursions in March. A group went to Shoneys for lunch and the next week we went to Cracker Barrel for lunch. Sometimes it’s just nice to get away and socialize in a different setting. Our afternoon goodie and chat parties are growing daily. We discuss lots of different subjects, from books to farming to whatever comes up. Be sure to pop in afternoons at three just to see what’s on the conversational menu. Hope every one had a great first quarter. 2004 is shaping up to be another great year at Longwood Plantation and Magnolia Place.
